Marc-Reiner Schmidt and Edgardo Borella take the Italian titles in Magione

Last weekend the final round of the 2017 Italian Supermoto Championship was held in Magione. For SWM Motorcycles the weekend was very successful as both riders took the two most important Italian championship titles. Marc-Reiner Schmidt took the International Italian title, while his teammate Edgardo Borella took the Italian Supermoto title in the Supermoto category.

In the timepractice on Sundaymorning in Magione, Edgardo Borella took the pole position, 00:041 seconds in front of his German teammate Marc-Reiner Schmidt. Husqvarna rider Elia Sammartin took the third position on the starting grid.

Race one in the Supermoto class was won by BRT SWM rider Marc-Reiner Schmidt 2.260 seconds in front of Elia Sammartin who rode a strong race in between the two SWM’s. Teammate of Schmidt at SWM, Edgardo Borella finished in third position followed by L30 Racing rider Andrea Occhini in fourth. Honda rider Fabrizio Bartolini completed the top five in the first race. Race two was again won Marc-Reiner Schmidt on SWM. This time it was his teammate Edgardo Borella who took second place in front of Elia Sammartin. L30 Racing Andrea Occhini finished in fourth position while Max Verderosa completed the top five.

With his two wins in Magione, Marc-Reiner Schmidt not only took the overall victory in the Supermoto class, but also the International Italian Supermoto 2017 title. The third and second place in both races was enough for Edgardo Borella to take the Italian Supermoto title. For both riders of SWM it was a great weekend and SupermotoWorld want to congratulate Marc and Edgardo with their titles.
